Nissan reports April sales in China Nissan China, passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles continue to outperform the market

BEIJING (May 7, 2019) – Nissan reported steady growth for its passenger vehicle and light commercial vehicle businesses in China in the first four months of 2019, continuing to outperform the sluggish market for the past nine consecutive months. Year-to-date sales by Nissan China and Dongfeng Nissan rose 0.9% from a year earlier to 465,302 vehicles and 1.4% to 339,030 vehicles, respectively. The light commercial vehicle business – Dongfeng Automobile Co., Ltd. (DFAC) and Zhengzhou Nissan (ZNA) – in the past four months sold 73,960 vehicles, representing an increase of 16.9% from a year earlier.

  Nissan China April sales were 121,554 units, a 2.9% decrease.

Dongfeng Nissan recorded its best-ever year-to-date sales, despite a 3.8% decrease in its April sales totaling 88,044 units. Key models such as the Nissan Sylphy, X-Trail, Qashqai, Terra and SUV series continued to drive growth.

  DFAC saw another month of robust growth in April, posting a 21.9% increase from a year earlier to 16,094 units. Sales in the first four months of 2019 rose 20.7% from a year earlier to 54,362 vehicles. Zhengzhou Nissan reported a 1.2% increase to 5,443 vehicles in April and a 7.5% increase to 19,598 units over the last four months

The steady growth in April and the first four months is helping Nissan build a solid foundation for the rest of 2019 despite the uncertainties of TIV ahead.

I am glad to see out efforts have started to pay off as we see sales growth for Nissan Terra, Altima and SUV series. At the April Shanghai Motor Show, we unveiled and showcased the all-new Sylphy, our best-selling model in China and another three Venucia EVs. All of them will be introduced to Chinese consumers in 2019.”

In April, 121,554 vehicles were sold under the Nissan scope, a 2.9% decrease from April 2018.

  The cumulative sales volume for the Nissan scope from January to April rose 0.9% from a year earlier to 465,302 vehicles.

?DFL-PV sales in April decreased 5.9% from a year earlier to 97,056 vehicles.

?Dongfeng Nissan (including CBU) broke sales records for the January to April period (339,030 vehicles), representing a 1.4% increase from a year earlier.

? 9,012 Venucia-brand vehicles were sold in April, and 42,086 vehicles were sold for the first four months of 2019.

DFL-PV’s total sales volume in the first four months of 2019 was 381,116 vehicles, down 1.3% compared with retail sales for the same period in 2018.

Nissan’s LCV business in China recorded double-digit growth in April, posting a 15.9% increase from a year earlier to 21,537 vehicles. Year-to-date sales rose 16.9% from a year earlier to 73,960 units.

Dongfeng Nissan’s April sales were driven mainly by the Nissan X-Trail (19,704), Tiida (6,731), Lannia (4,013) and Terra (1,157), representing year-over-year growth of 26.5%, 34.1%, 16.0% and 98.8%, respectively. Nissan Sylphy (33,441 vehicles) and Qashqai (10,672 vehicles) also contributed to the April growth. The new Nissan Altima, launched at the end of 2018, sold 4,628 vehicles in April. Combined sales of Nissan SUVs (including the Nissan Murano, X-Trail, Qashqai, Kicks and Terra) increased 7.3% from a year earlier to 37,819 vehicles. The Nissan X-Trail, Terra and SUV series all had their best-ever April sales.

Growth for Dongfeng Venucia in April was boosted mainly by the Venucia D60 (5,667 vehicles).

Robust growth of DFAC in April was driven mainly by the light duty truck series, including Duolika, Tuyi and Captain products.

Zhengzhou Nissan April sales continued to be driven by the Nissan Navara (1,852 vehicles, a 48% increase year over year) and Dongfeng-branded pickup series.
